Welcome to Hanging Hat Stables. We pride ourselves on having good quality horses for sale and have TOP quality horses and training available. Whether it is a riding lesson, training a horse to sell, training your horse for you, teaching you how to better work with your horse or doctoring an injured horse, we try to do the best job possible. We are located in the foothills of North Carolina. Because we are located here, some of our horses have winter coats. Some of the pictures of horses are dipicted with these winter coats. Please look past the thick hair and see a top quality horse. We try to keep as natural an environment as possible for the horses.

This is me, Leisa. I have been around horses for over 20 years. I am always learning, but now can be in a position to also be teaching. Most of the injured horse care, the finish training, "de-spooking," daily hands on for youngsters, rescue horses, some of the leather work and all of the artwork and daily care is done by me.

This is also me. This is a horse that was purchased as a 4 year old. He was very spooky and not trustworthy. He has come a long way. Now he is a horse that you would ride to go anywhere, even on top of a boulder!

John Bonner works hard to approach his horses with a gentle hand and a lot of patience. He is also the amazing leathersmith of many of our leather products available. Being a horse trainer, farrier and leathersmith John is very talented.

We spend a lot of hours putting the horses through everything we can think of. Vegas here is growing on me!

Matt Darnell is the talented man that makes all of our rope halters, most of the custom made horseshoe pieces and much of the barn wood furniture. He is also the very often seen "model" and owner of some of our great horses!

This is Tyler. He was raised around horses, though he is growing out of it at this age (13). He may come back to it some day, but he may not. (Right now he prefers his mountain bike and paintball!) You have to love it.
